Our Services

A water supply system is designed to ensure that water flows under pressure. There is a potential risk to the public if there is a cross connection between your water supply and a contaminated source. If there is a pressure drop within your system or in the water main supply, a vacuum can be created in the water supply system. Under certain conditions, this creates a siphoning effect and draws liquid from a contaminated source back into the drinking water supply. The same issues can arise if there is back pressure in your system.

We help you to minimise and eliminate risks to your potable drinking water supply through our services.

We have worked with and continue to work with manyTerritorial Authorities throughout New Zealand and travel throughout NZ. If you need help, we will come to you.

Consulting & Surveying

When you’re not sure about the best way forward, and you need to protect your potable water supply network (outside the property boundary) or Internal potable water system (inside the property boundary) we’re here to help.

We’ll help you develop your cross connection control program, which may include an in-depth property survey for the protection of the internal potable water systems, including advice on system design and Backflow Prevention devices devices required.

Site survey work allows you to make informed decisions on the degree of hazard within a specific property. From the boundary to the source, our survey enables you to make the correct decisions for backflow prevention devices to be installed where they are needed most, be it on the boundary or internally.

If you’re unsure, give us a call.

Training & Tutoring

For the many years, Jon has been the training facilitator for WSP Environmental, specific to the Backflow Prevention Unit Standards, US23847 and US23848 .  This is a three day course that covers the theory and practical requirements for Installation, Testing and Servicing of backflow prevention devices.

WSP run courses at venues all around New Zealand. You can visit their web site below to find when the next course is being held. Alternatively if you have enough course participants, WSP environmental will be happy to run a specific training course in your area.

If you’re just looking for a refresher course to upgrade your skills, this can be generally done in one day and these course are linked to the full backflow prevention course where you learn any new changes to theory or practical testing. You must have completed US23848 and US23847 to attend this course.

Backflow Installation Auditing

Part of undertaking a complete cross connection control backflow prevention program is having an independent audit. We can audit your backflow program to ensure you are getting the best protection for your water supply network.

Generally this will require an independent audit of your backflow prevention testing program to ensure the people you are relying on to undertake the testing and maintenance of the boundary backflow prevention devices are meeting specific standards that you set out.

This may include but is not limited to, health and safety, testing procedures, public consultation, suitability of practice, Accuracy, timeliness and suitability of testers.

Manufacture to Order

We have previously manufactured Backflow Prevention units, pre-assembled to your requirements. We do not offer this service anymore.

There is a failing in the industry to consider long term consequences of poor backflow device installations. If you are having issues around installation requirements we are happy to help solve your problems.
